President-elect Donald Trump emerged victorious on Nov. 5, both with the popular vote and all seven battleground states.

This election was the first “50/50” in years; the mainstream media covered it as one in which no candidate could emerge a clear favorite at any point, for any meaningful length of time.

Polling averages are also usually more accurate than following the swing of individual polls. How did they perform this time?
